I’m going to say it, loud and proud. I love the Minions. I wish I had Minions to keep me entertained. Who thought my favourite movie quote of 2013 would be a Minion impersonating a fire engine “Be-doh, be-doh, be-doh”. It’s not often that a sequel can stand up to its predecessor. Especially with animated films, and one who’s main character was once evil and now isn’t. The Minions get more screen time this time round, as let’s face it, we all know they are the stars of this show. There are even evil purple Minions this time round.
But I still love Steve Carrell’s voice in this film, the girls are still cute and the introduction of Kristin Wigg adds more humour. Sadly there is no “hello tiny toilet” from Jason Segel this time round, but the film is still entertaining none the less.
Despicable Me 2 is not just a kids film, its not just a family film. It is an animation that adults can watch without feeling the need to be sat watching it with a child to justify it. There are lots of belly laugh moments in this film and I can’t wait to watch it again.
Despicable Me 2 is out now on DVD and blu-ray. And lucky for me the Minions are getting their own movie which will be out in July 2015.
