Thor The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World might not be out in the UK until tomorrow, but I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening on Monday night thanks to Skype.

I heard mixed reviews from people on the previous Thor outing, I loved it, in particular for its artistic shots, I would have expected nothing less from its thespian diretor Kenneth Branagh. This time round however Marvel has tried to make Thor fit in more with the style of the Iron Man and Avengers films by making it a bit more lighthearted and bring in more humour. The 3D is also a lot more impressive this time round that it was before, in particular with the hammer – something I think they missed a trick on last time, but managed to get in Captain America with the shield – yes I want to feel like they are flying at my face!

There is so much I like about this film, but I don’t want to spoil it for the rest of you, so I will keep it to a top line summary. Thor returns to protect Jane (Natalie Portman), he never came back for her like he promised, but he come to New York to save Earth (and still didn’t see her) and then two years later he decides to drop by and see if she is ok, yeah I’d slap him too! Loki might be behind bars for a lot of the film, but he still entertains us with his dark and humourous side. I really don’t know what the Thor/Avengers films would be like without Tom Hiddleston playing this character so perfectly.

Also, Heimdall (Idris Elba) gets more screen time (yay) and Josh Dallas as Fandral is out (sadly due to his filming schedule with Once Upon a Time) and self confessed geek Zachary Levi (of Chuck fame) dons a blonde wig to replace him (yay again!)

There is also a special cameo from another person we’ve seen on the bog screen in the Avengers films…I’ll leave that for you to find out. As always with the Marvel films, stay tuned for a scene at the end. We are introduced to another character from another upcoming Marvel Universe project!

Skype has partnered with Marvel and video interviewed the cast based on fans questions. The interviews will be appearing in November, but while you patiently wait there are exclusive Thor artworks that you can download for your computer wallpaper. I’ve gone with Loki as we all know he is the star of the show! For more information visit
