Last night I was invited to the Panasonic House of Coffee, a one day only pop-up event in Clerkenwell. The event was to launch Panasonic’s new bean to cup Espresso Machine.
We had a chose of coffee cocktails made by Sam Paget-Steavenson, aka The Rum Runner. My two favourite cocktails (it would be rude not to try the coffee in only one type of cocktail) were the Madrugada, Blanco Tequila with dark chocolate, fresh mint and espresso coffee; and the Rum Runner Espresso Martini, vodka shaken with a coffee liqueur and espresso coffee – it even had some coffee beans and hazelnuts in it!
There was also some brilliant artwork on the walls by British artist Cosmo Sarson. His House of Coffee work was inspired by the heyday of the disco and club scene of the 70s. One of his pictures features on some espresso cups, which I was luckily enough to get one to take home. He also told me he’s been working on a few film projects – more details on those will be revealed later.
It was a great event, and perfectly timed during London Cocktail Week. The Espresso Machines look amazing and the coffee tasted delicious. Product review will be coming shortly.
