The tale of the headless horseman has always been a great one. I loved the Johnny Depp Sleepy Hollow film, so was intrigued to see how this story could be taken to a modern day TV show. Even better, British actor Tom Mison (Lost in Austen’s Mr Bingley, One Day) plays the lead role of Ichabod Crane who finds himself in a modern day Sleepy Hollow.
I’m clearly a sucker for long haired bearded men, as I was completely distracted by his new look as I only recognised him by his voice. You see in Lost in Austen he was a blonde and in One Day he had short light brown hair. Now he is looking like a cast member from Lord of the Rings.
Once I figured out who he was I found it hard to see him as Ichabod (probably because I have watched Lost in Austen far too many times), but he is growing on me.
I’m two episodes in now to this show and am really enjoying it. There are a few jumpy moments and the make up and special effects are impressive for a TV show budget. I did wonder how they are going to stretch out this story over one season, let alone several, but they are setting it up nicely.
I highly recommend this as a one to watch, not just to swoon over Tom Mison, but if you are looking for a new sci-fi show.
