The Playboy Club review

I’m a big fan of period dramas, usually the Jane Austen-esque ones but when Mad Men came along I became a fan of 20 century period dramas too. Then there was Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey. And this week the first of two new shows aired – The Playboy Club (Pan Am is the next show I’m waiting for). We’ve had a glimpse of the iconic club in the 60s in Mad Men and this show has the same look and feel as we have already seen.

Starring the handsome Eddie Cibrian, the show kicks off with an accidental mob murder and cover up. Eddie plays lawyer Nick Dalton, a regular at the club who has a way with the bunnies. Although there is no main character that appears in the show with the infamous name ‘Hugh Hefner’ he is the narrator and you can expect him to crop up within scenes, perhaps though without actually being seen.

Over all this show is well worth a look, especially if you are a fan of Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire.
