Henry Cavill is the new Superman

Exciting news has just been announced today that British actor Henry Cavill has been signed as the new Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel movie. Many people will know Henry from The Tudors and he will also be appearing on screens later this year in Immortals. Henry Cavill previously auditioned for the part of Kal-El in the 2006 Superman Returns movie, and was pretty close to getting it until McG gave his directing role to Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh was cast.

I’m sad that Brandon won’t be playing Clark Kent again, he was very close to the most popular Supes that was Christopher Reeve. But I am certainly excited to see Superman take a new direction, especially with Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill on board.

It’s also great to see that Brits are ruling the big three comic book adaptations, with Christian Bale as Batman, Andrew Garfield as Spiderman and now Henry Cavill as Superman. What Brits would you like to see joining this gang and what characters would they play?
